Today, the keyboard for the iPad arrived. I clearly see now how the laptop gets marginalized. I only wanted a separate bluetooth keyboard because I’m still one of the few out there who knows how to touch type.
And I know how to touch type thanks to my mother who more or less convinced me that knowledge of typing will keep me from starvation. I honed my typing skills at Classical High School in Springfield, Massachusetts in Mrs. Porter’s class. Mrs. Porter was a battleship of a woman. Her no-nonsense, straightforward typing lessons still resonate today. Once I get going, I can type 80 words per minute with decent accuracy.
Thank you, Mrs. Porter.
